PDP Acting Chairman Secondus To Step Down

There are indications that Chief Uche Secondus, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) acting chairman, may step down next month.

According to a report on This Day, Secondus may be replaced by a substantive national chairman from the Northeast.
This comes as part of measures to re-position the party and refocus its agenda away from the setbacks of the last general elections.
It was also gathered that the post-election committee headed by Ike Ekwerenmadu, the deputy Senate President, is expected to submit a report on September 23.
This was confirmed by Chief Olisa Metuh, the national publicity secretary, in a telephone interview with this This Day.
A top PDP source who spoke under anonymity told the media outfit that the leadership of the opposition party is also making arrangements to convene a major stakeholders’ conference to chart a new course.
He said: “PDP is hoping to have a stakeholders’ conference to evaluate its performance at the last general elections and seek better ways to forge ahead. The report of the post-election is the only thing holding back the conference which is expected to galvanise support for the party through aggressive membership registration.”

Uche Secondus, who until recently was the deputy national chairman, took over from Adamu Mua’zu after he resigned from the office in May.
