The Delta State Police Command has reiterated its unalloyed commitment to effective total policing of the state, in line with the Peace and Security agenda of the state government.

The State Commissioner of Police, Ikechukwu Aduba NPM, PSC  gave the assurance in Sapele recently while commissioning Sapele Main Police Station Fence/Gate built and donated by Mr. Tony Erewa of Tony Erew Consultancy services, Sapele, Delta State.

C.P Ikechukwu Aduba who said Delta state is \'\'one of the busiest state in terms of crime in the Federation\'\' expressed happiness in the fact that its inhabitants can go to bed to sleep with their two eyes closed without fear of attack, adding the State Governor, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan had expended so much to ensuring that it is peaceful.

While emphasizing that the state cannot move forward without the tacit cooperation of the members of the public, the police commissioner admitted that there is decay in infrastructural facilities in the force formations, but glad that an individual in Sapele took it upon himself to construct and built a fence that had long been abandoned over the decades and challenged other heavy weights in the locality to put resources together and emulate Mr. Erewa\'s kind and humanitarian gestures.

While congratulating the Sapele Division Police Officer (DPO), CSP Mamman Sale Rijau for his vision and gallant services, the police command implored the rank and files of the force to maintain the dignity and respect it deserves, adding that there is always a reward for the faithful who discharged it duties without eye service.

He assured the people of Sapele of his desire to urgently attend to their request for another police division in the locality, aimed at combating crime.

Earlier in his address, the Sapele DPO, CSP Mamman Sale Rijau said the division was faced with constraints which had hindered the force in efficient performance. He mentioned such challenges to include; lack of serviceable patrol vehicles, non-lethal weapon like smoke, grenades/canisters, rehabilitation of the police barracks and construction of more barracks accommodation.

He lamented that Sapele police station which was built by African Timber and Plywood (AT&P) and handed over to the police authority in the 60\'s still has not been fenced, therefore posing as security threat through trespass/encroachment.

Speaking to Journalists later, Mr. Tony Erewa said he was moved with the spirit of compassion to fence the police station in order to encourage the force in their policing, saying that the government cannot do it alone.

\'\' I was touched to discover that Sapele Police station remained porous without restriction and concluded when I was eventually approached by the DPO to assist, I humbly agreed without hesitation, knowing that am called to serve.\'\'
