Two persons, who specialized in vandalizing installations of Enugu Electricity Distribution Company, EEDC, were electrocuted, weekend, while attempting to remove the power distribution property. Meanwhile, a young man of about 25 years of age is currently hospitalized in Anambra State for burns to his body while attempting to vandalize EEDC’s 2.5 MVA transformer, which serves customers within Nnewi town. EEDC’s Public Affairs Manager, Mr. Eugene Aniowo, who made the disclosure to journalists in Enugu yesterday, said the incidents had been reported to the police, even as he lamented incessant vandalism of EEDC’s installations in various parts of the South-East geopolitical zone. The 46-year-old arrived at a clinic in Dublin with a huge growth on the right-hand side of her back. Doctors recording the case in the journal BMJ case reports said they examined the ‘impressive’ mass and found it was firm to the touch, rather than tender. The woman said it had been growing for 10 years, but had starting growing rapidly in the last three. Upon measuring the tumour, doctors found it was 19cm in length and 6.7cm wide. Suspecting it may be a soft tissue cancer known as a sarcoma, doctors immediately carried out an MRI scan. They found the growth was a benign tumour made up of fat cells, known as a lipoma. 78-Year-Old Chief Sexually Assaults 9-Year-Old Girl A 78-year-old landlord, Chief Wilfred Ogbodo, has been arrested and charged to court by the Enugu state police command for allegedly raping a 9-year-old girl. Ogbodo was said to have invited the girl, a daughter of one of his tenants in Enugu to his flat, where he allegedly overpowered and sexually assaulted her, Daily Sun reports. Narrating what happened to the assault referral center managed by Women Aid Collective (WACOL) and funded by Justice for All (J4A), the little girl said Ogbodo invited her to his flat. UNILAG students shut down campus after 300L student is electrocuted to death(Photos) A student of University of Lagos (UNILAG), Akoka, identified as Oluchi Anekwe,  was yesterday, electrocuted on her way to her room in Sodeinde Residence, New Hall on the campus. Oluchi, a 300-level student of Accounting, who hails from Aku in Enugu state, was reportedly electrocuted when a high tension wire fell on her in front of the Sodeinde hall of residence in the campus.  She was immediately rushed to the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) but was pronounced dead on arrival.  In protest, the students of the university barricaded the main gate of the university to express their grievances over what they believe was an  ‘avoidable ”incident .The student union has also  shut down the university for the day and halted all academic activities in her honour. Boko Haram killers on horseback massacre nearly 80 in NE Nigeria  Kano (Nigeria) (AFP) - Suspected Boko Haram gunmen on horseback shot dead nearly 80 people in attacks on three villages in Nigeria's restive northeast at the weekend, a vigilante and residents told AFP on Monday. The attacks were the latest bloodbath in the six-year-old insurgency by the extremist group aimed at carving out an Islamic state in the volatile region. Babakura Kolo, a vigilante fighting Boko Haram, said 68 people were killed in the attack on Baanu village in Borno state late on Friday while residents said another 11 people were shot dead in two other villages on Saturday and Sunday.
