PROPOSED 19 NEW STATES RECOMMENDED TO BE CREATED IN NIGERIA TO GIVE RISE TO 54 STATES B-r-e-a-k-ing n-e-w-s, National Conference in its final report recommended the creation of 19 additional states to bring the number of states in the country to 54. The recommendation was made by the Committee on Political Restructuring and Forms of Government jointly headed by Ike Nwachukwu and Mohammed Kumalia. Initially, some Northern delegates kicked against moves to create additional states apart from the one proposed for the South-East which was overwhelmingly supported. But after series of consultations by the leadership of delegations, the Conference unanimously adopted the recommendation for the creation of additional 18 new states. FIFA Moves to Ban Third-Party Ownership of Footballers World football governing body FIFA has taken the decision of general principle that third-party ownership of players’ economic rights (TPO) shall be banned with a transitional period. The decision comes at the end of a two-day meeting of the FIFA executive committee and has been handed back to the TPO for the relevant technical regulations to be drafted.
