Governorship hopeful and Senator representing Delta North in the National Assembly, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa has appealed to electorates to judge the aspirants to the position of Governor of Delta State on the basis of competence, character, compassion, electability and exposure to the intrigues of governance rather than the obnoxious window of zoning or power-shift, stressing that he was confident of having garnered enough experience to be able to govern a multi-ethnic State like Delta in the coming years.

Governorship hopeful and Senator representing Delta North in
the National Assembly, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa has appealed to electorates to
judge the aspirants to the position of Governor of Delta State on the basis of
competence, character, compassion, electability and exposure to the intrigues
of governance rather than the obnoxious window of zoning or power-shift,
stressing that he was confident of having garnered enough experience to be able
to govern a multi-ethnic State like Delta in the coming years.
He spoke at the weekend during a consultation visit to the
Urhobo Peoples Integrity Organisation in Warri, Delta State.
Senator Okowa, who is the Chairman of the senate committee
for Health maintained that he was in the race to offer quality service to the
people of Delta State and that where he came from is not important rather, his
status as true Deltan was what count in
the coming election.
He promised to develop the agro-industrial sector to attack
the unemployment situation and make life more bearable for the people. Senator
Okowa also promised to build on the infrastructural development initiative of
the incumbent Governor.
National Chairman of Urhobo Peoples Integrity Organisation,
Dr Ebenezer Okorodudu, in his remarks, paid glowing tributes to Senator Okowa
whom he described as a grassroot man who has paid his dues and is well known
all over the State. He assured the Senator of the support of the group,
provided he is prepared to accommodate the interest of the Urhobo people as the
largest ethnic nationality in Delta State.
The event was attended by Former Attorney General and
Commissioner for Justice, Chief Andrew Orugbo; Former Commissioner for Commerce
and Industry, Barr Edewor Omonemu; Hon Nwokolo of the House of Representatives;
former and serving House of Assembly members, Council Chairmen and other top
government functionaries.
