JUST IN: UNILAG shutdown as students riot over extra fee

The University of Lagos (UNILAG) has been shut down following an ongoing protest by students over the hike in Tuition fees. While the protest lasted, a riot ensued which prompted the closure of the gates that leads to the university. Witnesses say no one is allowed to leave or come into the facility.

Students are reportedly protesting UNILAG’s demand for extra N20,000 for late editing or registration of Course Forms.

  UNILAG SHUT DOWN AS STUDENTS RIOT OVER EXTRA FEE Scores of protesting students first converged at the University’s Senate Building where they screamed slogans and sang protest songs demanding that the school ends its exploitation as they accused their Vice Chancellor, Professor Rahamon Bello of corruption.
