Breaking News: Fashola Sworn In As Power Minister, Works & Housing


After five months without ministers, President Muhammadu Buhari has finally inaugurated 36 ministers that were recently screened and cleared by the Senate.


The 36 ministers were also given their portfolios as the former governor of Lagos state Babatunde Fashola stole the show with his appointment as the new minister of power, works and housing.

The presidency had earlier confirmed that the inauguration of the ministers will be carried out on Wednesday, November 11.

From a statement released by Femi Adesina, the special adviser on media and publicity to the president, it was revealed that the ministers are allowed to invite only two guests for their inauguration.

Just before the commencement of the inaugural session of the council, the ministers took the oaths of office in the council chambers of the Presidential Villa.

The swearing-in ceremony lasted two hours, 30 minutes. It began promptly at 10am and ended at exactly 12.30pm.

12:02: They now move to sign the dotted lines before receiving a handshake from President Muhammadu Buhari, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Senate President Bukola Saraki and Speaker Yakubu Dogara.

12:00: The ministers now move to take the oath of office and oath of allegiance.

11:54: The last batch of ministers to be sworn in include: Aisha Abubakar (Sokoto),  Aisha Alhassan Jummai (Taraba), Khadija Abba Ibrahim (Yobe), Brigadier General Dan Ali (Zamfara).

11:49: The ministers now move to sign the dotted lines before receiving a handshake from President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo

11:45:  The ministers now move to take the oath of office and oath of allegiance.
11:39: The next batch of ministers to be sworn in include: Professor Isaac Adewole (Osun), Barrister Adebayo Shittu (Oyo), Barrister Simon Dalong (Plateau), Rotimi Amaechi (Rivers)
11:34: The ministers now move to sign the dotted lines one after the other on the register which contains signatures of past ministers right from the first republic till present. They will then proceed to receive a presidential handshake from the President Buhari. That was the seventh set of ministers being sworn in.

11:31: The ministers now move to take the oath of office and oath of allegiance.
11:25: Next batch of ministers-designate to be sworn in include: Mallam Ibrahim Jibril (Nasarawa), Hon. Bwari Bawa (Niger), Kemi Adeosun (Ogun), Claudius Daramola (Ondo state).

11:20: They now proceed to sign the dotted lines before receiving a presidential handshake.

11:15: The ministers now move to take the oath of office and oath of allegiance.
11:11: The next batch of ministers-designate to be sworn in include: Barrister Abubakar Malami (Kebbi), Barrister James Ocholi (Kogi), Alhaji Lai Mohammed (Kwara), Babatunde Fashola (Lagos).
11:05: They now move to proceed to sign the dotted lines which is followed up with a handshake from President Buhari.

11:03: All four ministers now take the oath of office and oath of allegiance.
10:57: Garba Shehu reels out the names of the next batch of ministers-designate to be sworn in. They are: Suleiman Adamu (Jigawa), Zainab Ahmed (Kaduna), Abdulrahman Dambazau (Kano), Hadi Sirika (Katsina).

10:53: The four ministers now proceed to sign the dotted line which also mandate a signature from the president. Buhari follows up with a handshake to all four ministers. A total of 16 ministers have now be sworn-in.

10:50: All four ministers-designate now taking the oath of office and oath of allegiance.
10:43: The next batch of ministers-designate to be sworn in include: Kayode Fayemi (Ekiti), Geoffrey Onyeama (Enugu), Amina J. Mohammed (Gombe), Anthony Gozie (Imo)

10:38: The four ministers now proceed to sign the dotted lines which is followed up by a handshake from President Muhammadu Buhari.
10:35: The four ministers now take the oath of office and oath of allegiance.
 10:30: The master of the ceremony Garba Shehu now reels out the names of the next batch of ministers-designate to be sworn in. The first is Pastor Usani Usani (Cross River), Dr. Ibe Kachikwu (Delta), Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu (Ebonyi), Osagie Ehanire (Edo)

10:25: All four ministers now signing the dotted lines as Buhari also adds his signature to the register. He follows up with a quick handshake with all ministers. Eight ministers have now been sworn in.
10:20: All four ministers-designate now taking the oath of office and oath of allegiance.
10:15: The next four of ministers to be sworn in include: Heineiken Lokpobiri (Bayelsa), Adamu Adamu (Bauchi), Audu Ogbeh (Benue), Mustapha Baba Shehuri.

10:10: After taking the oath of office, the first batch of Ministers signs the dotted lines which it’s followed up with a handshake from President Buhari

10:07: The four ministers-designate now taking the oath of office and oath of allegiance.
10:02: Garba Shehu, the senior special assistant to President Buhari is presently reading the cvs of the first set of ministers. They are: Okechukwu Enelamah (Abia), Mohammed Bello (Adamawa state), Udo Udoma Egba (Akwa Ibom), Chris Ngige (Anambra)

10:00: All ministers-designate have arrived at the council chambers as Federal executive council inauguration commences.

09: 50: Buhari has also arrived at the Council chambers and is now seated.
09:47: The likes of former governors, Babatunde Fashola, Chris Ngige, Kayode Fayemi have all arrived.

09:45: The ministers-designate have started arriving the Council chambers in Presidential Villa in Abuja for the swearing-in ceremony.
