Ebola Outbreak: 39 immigrants from DR Congo, Sierra Leone arrested in Lagos According to Vanguard Newspaper 30th August 2014 Lagos-At least 39 foreign nationals were ,yesterday, arrested by Police and Immigration officers in two hotels on Lagos Island. It was gathered that they were arrested following a tip-off by some residents of the area over fears of the spread of Ebola virus disease. China’s first anti-Ebola drug JK-05 approved for production Beijing, Aug 29: China’s first Ebola drug has recently obtained manufacturing approval from the General Department of Logistics of Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) as a special medication for the PLA. The drug named “JK-05″ is the country’s first drug for the treatment of the deadly Ebola virus, and has been developed by the Institute of Microbiology Epidemiology under Academy of Military Medical Sciences. According to the World Health Organization, WHO, no fewer than 729 people have died in Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea so far this year as a result of the deadly Ebola virus. “This is the biggest and most complex Ebola outbreak in history,” Dr. Tom Frieden, director of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, said in a statement. “It will take many months, and it won’t be easy, but Ebola can be stopped. We know what needs to be done.
