He advised men aged between 20 and 40 years to make it a point of duty to go for regular cancer screening to ascertain the state of their health.
This, he said, would go a long way in determining their status as regards the deadly disease.
“There is need for constant check for men between the age bracket of 20 and 40 for a regular check within every two years as this will go a long way in helping patients with the cancer”, he said.
He also said that although there was no known cause of prostate cancer, yet everybody should avoid smoking and maintain good hygiene.
He also said one of the preventive measures was consumption of soya beans which he explained contained some essential nutritional values that could suppress cancer cells.
He said this had been medically proven.
“Castrating infected patients is not the solution to curtail the spread of the disease.’’
The don said that other chemotherapeutic solutions would help such patients to overcome the disease.
Bosland told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), that his coming to Nigeria would further cement the relationship between Nigeria and his university to combat prostate cancer.
“This would assist in establishing a database that would determine the rate of contact of prostate cancer and its control’’, he said.
The theme of the lecture was: Detection and Control of Prostate Cancer in Sub-Saharan Africa.’’
